Our theme for Lent this year is "Tell Me Something Good" utilizing (by permission) materials written and published by Sanctified art (sanctified art.com). Maybe you also long for some good news. Jesus gives you much good news. Originally, Lent was a time for new converts to learn and prepare for baptism on Easter. They studied what is central to Christianity. Lent is still a time to learn, grow in faith and walk more closely with Jesus. Jesus' good news is extravagant, illogical, persistent and joyful. May your Lenten journey fill and surround you with the good news Jesus gives.
There will be a Sunday sermon series entitled, "The good news is..." Instead of devotional books, Daily Devotional Cards will be available to help ground you daily in Jesus' good news. For those wanting to participate in a Sunday morning Bible Study, we will be using the devotional book that follows the themes and scriptures used in the sermon series to guide our lessons. We will also have a weekly Wednesday worship service at 7 pm, as well as Maundy Thursday and Good Friday worship. For our Wednesday meals this year, please join the Community Table meals to be hosted at St. John's in our Fellowship Hall. This is a chance to practice and experience what we are learning, joining together with Christians from other churches, helping neighbors in need.
