Christmas really is a 12-day long season, which means we celebrate at least one Sunday of Christmas each year.  In the past, we have had a service of lessons and carols, similar to what St, John's choir presented for the Cantata this year.  The liturgy theme we are using this year, "What do you fear? - Insisting on hope" carries us through Christmas and Epiphany Sunday.   The theme for the First Sunday of Christmas involves letting fear fuel a response for justice and meeting needs of others.  In this more contemporary worship service, scripture, song and prayer will help us translate the ancient Christmas story of Jesus' birth into living our lives in faith.
Instead of the sanctuary we will meet in the Fellowship Hall.  We will sing Christmas songs, pray together, hear part of the Christmas scripture we do not often hear, and discuss how this story shapes a faithful response, and share a meal together.  Eating together will echo how the earliest church gathered for fellowship and worship.  Thank you to Tanner Behling for helping to lead this worship service.
The congregation is also invited to help assess  what we have collected for the confirmation class Food for the Homeless project and what we may still need.  The congregation is also invited to bring a favorite breakfast food or treat to share.  As always with potlucks, there is always more than enough and do not feel obligated to bring a dish to share.
